At Northern Edge we use non mainstream sports like Roller Hockey, Cycling, Squash, Table Tennis, as well as Football and Futsal, with mentoring and education to empower a brighter future for everyone.

Meet Our Dedicated Team

paul watson

Paul is our teaching and learning lead and Director.

With 15 years experience as a PE teacher, and a previous career as performance coach for the national governing bodies of British Triathlon and British Cycling, Paul Leads our sports offerings and Leads on our sport awards for pupils. 

 

   As a sports educator, Paul has a wealth of experience in re engaging young people back into education, working across various schools and leading on Alternative Education within school settings.

 

As a Great Britain Athlete for over 20 years, Paul's enjoyment alongside the discipline and dedication that sport provides is what helps Northern Edge Academy to excel, helping young people back into education.

our coaching staff

We are very fortunate to have such a depth in experience of sports coaches. Our team is built upon ex professional hockey players who now give back to the community with their work with young people. Using none main stream sports, Ice and Roller hockey, alongside more mainstream sports such as football and table tennis to allow young people to find confidence in succeeding.

Mon - Thurs: 9.15am to 2pm

9.15 - 9.30am Arrival / Retrieval activity

 

9.30 - 10.30am Lesson 1 practical sport

10.30 - 10.45am  BREAK

​

10.45 - 11.45am Classroom / AQA Units

​

11.45 - 12.20pm Lesson 2 practical sport

​

12.20 - 12.50pm LUNCH

​

12.50 - 1.20pm PSHE / AQA additional time

​

1.20 - 1.50pm Lesson 3 practical sport

​

1.50 - 2.00pm Preparation to finish and leave
